Speech Therapy
Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. It is performed by speech-language pathologists (SLPs), referred to as speech therapists.
Speech therapy benefits students with language delay, feeding and swallowing issues, cognitive and language delays, communication difficulties due to mild, moderate or severe learning difficulties, specific language impairment, specific difficulties in producing sounds (articulation & phonological disorders), hearing impairment, cleft palate, stuttering & autism/ social interaction difficulties (PDD).
DDUSpeech therapy unit is subdivided into cubicles, sessions are conducted on a one to one basis. The speech therapy unit has been equipped with materials which our SLP use for improvement of speech, language and communication disorders. Parents are able to observe and listen in on the sessions from the one-way windows, hence minimizing anxiety, at the same time ensuring that parents can relate to the child’s procedures.
DDU Speech therapists formulate a working plan after assessing each child. All necessary tools for speech and language development, with special focus on everyday vocabulary are applied.
