The DPS Evening Session, launched in 2018, is a transformative literacy initiative dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children. Hosted on the premises of Dawood Public School, this program has grown into a beacon of hope for children who might otherwise lack access to formal education. Beginning with just 17 students, it has blossomed into a vibrant community of 205 learners.
The DPS Evening Session is committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to thrive. The ES program provides:
Healthcare is a top priority in the DPS Evening Session. Regular medical check-ups by the school doctors ensure students’ health is closely monitored and maintained. In collaboration with government health initiatives, the program also provides polio vaccinations, deworming treatments and vision screenings.
Students benefit from access to Dawood Public School's state-of-the-art facilities, including well-equipped playgrounds and laboratories. These resources foster an inclusive and nurturing environment, promoting physical, emotional and intellectual growth.
To equip students with practical life skills, the Evening Session offers skill-based learning classes, including:
These classes foster creativity, responsibility and problem-solving skills, empowering students to prepare for real-world challenges.
At the DPS Evening Session, students come from diverse age groups and academic backgrounds. To address their unique needs, classes are organized based on academic understanding and performance rather than strictly by age. While age is taken into account, older students can advance to higher levels through a Mid-Term Academic Evaluation Test (MTAET), enabling them to stay aligned with their peers and achieve accelerated progress
Students of the Evening Session continue to excel in academics, sports and extracurricular activities. Many have confidently represented the program in inter-tournament competitions, showcasing their talents and determination. Notably, two students have earned scholarships to the mainstream DPS Morning School, where they are thriving both academically and socially.
The Evening Session is supported by a team of 14 full-time teachers, complemented by DPS subject specialists in areas such as music, physical education, gardening, STEAM, compassion and nutrition. This holistic approach fosters students’ intellectual, creative and moral growth.
The curriculum mirrors that of the mainstream DPS school, focusing on interactive and hands-on learning. Evening Session faculty participate in professional development programs alongside their mainstream counterparts, ensuring consistent and progressive education. Regular collaboration between both teaching teams further enriches the learning experience for all.
Parental involvement plays a vital role in the success of the Evening Session. Regular Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) provide a platform to collaborate on overcoming challenges and celebrating student progress.
During the pandemic, the program swiftly transitioned to digital learning, with teachers sharing pre-recorded lessons and study packs via WhatsApp to ensure uninterrupted education.
Today, both students and parents are proficient in using digital tools like WhatsApp, Zoom and Google Suite, ensuring a seamless transition between physical and online learning whenever necessary.
At its core, the DPS Evening Session is committed to bridging the educational divide and empowering underprivileged children. With aspirations to expand further, our goal is to increase enrolment to 300 students within the next two years, extending the light of knowledge to even more young minds.
Looking forward, we aim to introduce our students to international platforms such as:
These opportunities will empower students to challenge themselves globally, broadening their horizons and unlocking their potential. By nurturing young minds, we aim to help students transition into mainstream schools and grow into responsible, well-rounded individuals.
With a dedicated faculty, skill-based learning opportunities and robust community support, we are confident that the Evening Session will continue to transform lives and create brighter futures for many more children in the years to come.
