“Enlighten my soul, enlighten my being”
To develop an educational institute that produces young women who possess the capabilities of critical thinking, analysis, and awareness of a disparate environment. They will be instilled with knowledge and acumen which will enable them to become proactive members of the society, as well as equip them with practical tools for survival and autonomy. Every student at Dawood Public School will be nurtured to explore and cultivate her aptitudes, interests, and skills. The School’s vision is to expand this ethos to include all people associated with the institution to create a learning community and communal network whose members will be worthy role models for others, possessing values of integrity and sensitivity to the plight of others, common sense and recognition of their position and their roles amongst their families and in the development of their country.
DDU is the practical depiction of the ideology that every person in society has the right to avail all services and opportunities according to their abilities and requirements. Since the last three decades, Dawood Public School (DPS) has been continuing its legacy of providing quality education and training for girls. DDU has been set up by DPS to provide a quality therapeutic, academic, and training facility for children with different abilities so that parents of DPS students can avail the facility for their differently abled child within the same premises. The facility is not just for DPS students but for the community at large.
Special Education concentrates on
Developing and working to enhance self-help skills to integrate differently abled children as active members of the community.
DDU offers various vocational skills and provides training according to each child’s interests.
DDU provides individual computer literacy classes according to each child’s interests and pace.
DDU trains students for indoor and outdoor games and sports. Moreover, we enhance the opportunity for unified sports.
Our community outreach programme encompasses education about different disabilities and disorders through awareness campaigns, training programmes, and other activities. Community outreach helps us to educate parents and the senior segment of society, and at the same time gives us space to influence younger generations to give back to the community by supporting their fellow community members through voluntary services.
Dealing with multiple challenges
DDU caters to Differently Abled Children (DAC) of various categories under one roof. For this purpose, qualified staff has been hired for each area of work. This staff includes:
DDU believes in early intervention—sooner the intervention starts, sooner are the chances of improvement. ECI offers need and knowledge-based programmes designed by competent professionals. The curriculum has been designed considering student needs according to the Montessori philosophy.
Our psychologists provide counselling, psychotherapy services, and monitor age-appropriate child development.
