As an annual tradition at DPS A-Level, the academic year of 2018-19 initiated with an orientation session held on the 27th of August 2018. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by the A2 students, followed by the National Anthem. The A-Level Head Girl, SimrahShahid, who was the host of the event welcomed parents and the incoming AS students.
She then invited the A-Level Principal Mrs. Huma Thaver to address the audience.
Mrs. Thaver thanked the parents and congratulated students, teachers and parents for an outstanding CAIE May/June 2018 result. She reiterated the schools’ policies and culture and also highlighted the commitment DPS and its teachers display towards their students with regard to academic and personal development. She also highlighted the focused and one-to-one-help -approach at the A-Level as a major factor in the students’ success.
Mrs. Thaver then took the audience through a collage of activities executed in the previous years by the A-Level student body. This included the mention of the recent World History Tour to Germany, workshops and speaking sessions by renowned educationists, DALMUN and other cultural and educational programmes held at the school. Besides this she highlighted the importance of developing and boosting personal traits and life skills in the young ladies of the A-Level through an extensive co/extra-curricular student programmes. She also introduced the alumni who are now studying or working in various reputable institutions in or outside Pakistan, pursuing their studies and aspirations. Later each alumnus shared anecdotes of their experiences at DPS A-Level and offered useful advice to their incoming juniors.
The Principal also called upon the faculty, who introduced themselves and their designated courses.
Finally the event came to an end with a heartwarming thank you note from the host of the event. The incoming students and teachers were encouraged to interact with their forth coming seniors, teachers and alumni, over refreshments.
