Sports are important to keep students energized, energetic and fit. Keeping this in view, Dawood Public School organizes the Annual Sports Festival during the After-Exams Week. It is a much awaited event that promotes the participation of both parents and their daughters and provides a wide variety of race options to its participants. DPS Annual Sports Festival allows the maximum participation of students by organizing the sports events separately for each of its Sections. The very first sports event held on 17th December for students of KG-I and KG-II of the Pre Primary Section. Young athletes showcased remarkable sportsmanship in a myriad of contests. The highlight of the event was the synchronized performance of 66 tiny tots harmoniously dressed in green and grey as they presented a mesmerizing yoga performance for the audience. The Annual Sports Festival continued with pomp and fare in the first half of 18th December for excited students of Grades III, IV and V. As per tradition, the House contingents marched onto the sports field proudly before lining up to participate in the highly competitive field races. Later that same day, the remaining girls of Primary Section, of Grades I and II exhibited exemplary sporting spirit as they competed with their peers on the race tracks. Team spirit shone throughout the events as the young athletes all cheered each other to win podium positions for sparkling medals.

Robust enthusiasm enveloped the sport’s field on 20th December once again as the Annual Sports Festival continued for the Secondary Section for Grades VI, VII and VIII. The parents’ audience cheered the competitive athletes as each set of students ran for a position. To add sparkle to the electric charged competitions, talented Primary Section students from Grade II displayed a well coordinated ‘Basketball Replay’ for the event.
The Annual Sports Festival ended its final session on 21st December for the senior athletes from O and A Levels displaying competitive spirit in a series of challenging races. As per tradition, the energized march past of the four House contingents was led by Ayesha Karim Jamali, Head girl O Levels hoisting the DPS flag and Eisha Khan, Head girl A Levels holding high the flag of Pakistan.

Behind them, the House contingents were led by the students from Grade XI that is Khadija Akbar Khokhar as House Captain for Bapsi Sidhwa House, Maira Asad Noor as House Captain of Anita Ghulam Ali House, Marium Mohsin leading the Fatima Jinnah House and Bushra Imran heading the Bilquees Edhi House. After spirited competitive races, the event culminated with the intensely anticipated Annual Tug Of War between students from Grade XI and the A-Levels.
The end of Sports Festival grant us an honour to have concluded the Sporting Events of the year 2018 during which the parents were the eager spectators who demonstrated thorough zeal and fervor and not only supported their children in the competitions, but participated whole heartedly in the mother’s and father’s races in each segment of the Annual Sports Festival. As always, the efforts of the Sports Team and all participants were laudable for yet another mega event filled with excitement and festivity.
