Celebrations at DPS started from April 22nd and continued for the entire week till April 25th, 2019 to accentuate and appreciate the love of reading and importance of books.
During the week long activities students shared a quote or dialogue from their favorite book as a tribute to great authors daily in the morning assembly.
A competition of designing book marks was held among students of Class III, IV, V and VI. Students submitted book marks on the topic of ‘Reading and World Book Day’.
DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) was an activity arranged in the Pre-Primary section for a day permitting 10 minutes break from all work and everybody started to read random books. DEAR Time’s short interval encouraged the love of reading among students and staff members.
A suggestion box was kept in the library for the staff and parents to drop their comments regarding library, books and any other suggestions.
Offering amazing discounts, a three days book fair by Paramount Books was organized and students, parents and staff members had an opportunity to purchase books of their choice.

Apart from the aforementioned activities, the main ceremony was held in the Senior Library on April 24th, 2019 to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of book lovers. During the ceremony the enthusiastic and frequent readers of the Pre-primary Section were rewarded with “Star Reader” badges, and regular parent-visitors to the library were also duly appreciated. ‘Reading Queens and Reading Kings’ badges were awarded to the book lovers from among the teaching staff, administration and support staff. Nine students who demonstrated best creativity in designing book marks were rewarded the ‘Golden ticket’ and they could be able to issue four library books for 2 weeks on showing this golden ticket.
The senior library also awarded appreciation certificates for participants of the regular ‘Parent Volunteer Reading Program’. Principal Ms Mahvash Roshani graces the occasion and highly encouraged all the participants and the winners accordingly.
