Precautionary Measures – Corona Virus

Pre Nursery to A Level

Ref. No: STD/PM/20/134

Dear Parents,

Dawood Public School is a responsible and conscientious institution. In light of the current situation, kindly be advised that all of us need to be aware and alert to keep ourselves and those around us safe and healthy; this is not only a concern for the school, it is one that is affecting the community as well as the world at large. The Corona-virus COVID-19 is a concern that needs to be addressed by everyone working together.

Parents are the primary care givers of children. It is your responsibility to care for your child and ensure a hygienic environment for the health and well-being of all those in your home; this includes the domestic help at your service.  We advise you to supervise your child to learn proper hand washing and ensure that all surfaces of your house are cleaned regularly with disinfectant.

Parents are the first to be able to tell when a child is showing signs that need medical attention, and they must keep their child home to administer the required medication until the child is completely cured. As you are well aware, we have School Doctors. If they identify any concern regarding your child, kindly note that the School will contact you to collect your child at the earliest. We request that you keep your phones on during school hours.

Following steps are advised at all times to ensure a healthy and safe environment. Please ensure that your child is aware of the following:

  • washing hands with soap and water frequently, especially:
    • before leaving home
    • upon arrival at school
    • after using the toilet
    • after breaks and sports activities
    • before eating any food, including snacks
    • before leaving school
    • upon arrival at home
  • using a sanitiser often
  • washing fruits and vegetables well before consuming
  • covering the face when sneezing or coughing
  • wearing a mask if a cough or cold has been contracted
  • disposing used tissues in a bin – remember: BIN IT, KILL IT
  • every family member should have their own towel
  • glasses used for water must always be clean
  • avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
  • avoid close contact with people who are unwell

Parents who have requested for leave to travel to another country which has been affected by the virus, must note that their child may be restricted at home for a government advised quarantine period of two weeks before they are allowed to return to school.

The School stands strong in dealing with this issue with the utmost care of all students, faculty and staff.  Precautionary instructions are displayed in various locations across the school. School Doctors are ready with informational presentations to add to age appropriate awareness for all students. Sanitizer dispensers have been increased to cover more locations in the campus.

Coronavirus is surely a concern. You are requested to stay abreast of all valid information regarding awareness and precaution for the same.

Looking forward to your cooperation.

Regards,

Principal
