Pre-Primary to Class IX
Dear Parents,
Pakistan is one of the countries where Extensively Drug-Resistant (XDR) Typhoid Fever is spreading; hence the Emergency Operations Center Sindh is conducting an Injectable Typhoid Vaccine Campaign targeting children from 9 months to 15 years of age.
As guided by the WHO team, children who have already been vaccinated against typhoid still need to be vaccinated by this new TYPHOID CONJUGATE VACCINE (TCV).
Reference to the meeting held on Thursday 31st October, 2019 with Class Parent Coordinators (CPCs). Kindly find below details regarding the campaign.
Parents are requested to get their child personally immunized as per the following schedule.

It is encouraged for the parents to consult their child’s consultants and decide on their own whether to get the child vaccinated or not. The school will neither advocate nor discourage the administration of this vaccine. Kindly visit our Facebook page/website for vaccine related video by Dr Ghaffar Billoo.
The vaccine will be administered on the upper arm intra muscularly. It can be given during flu, diarrhea or low grade fever.
Vaccine will not be administered to:
1) Those who have had an allergic reaction with the typhoid vaccine before
2) Those with 101 fever or more
3) Those Asthmatic children who are on steroid inhalers/tablets/injections.
The vaccine can lead to mild fever/mild swelling/ mild pain in some children.
Doctor parents and CPCs are requested to volunteer during the campaign to assist the vaccination process.
Parents who are not willing to get their child vaccinated need to send a WRITTEN note to their respective class teachers
