Pre-primary education encompasses educational and teaching services for children, from 2 to age 5.5. Environment and Facilities:
The Pre-Primary section is housed in a separate double story building, with a big garden sporting a variety of swings, slides, jungle gym, et cetera. There are fourteen big and airy classrooms with colourful furniture and soft boards. The Library holds a variety of books to develop the reading instincts of children. We instruct our girls in how to hold and carry books, how to turn pages, how to read and comprehend them. Thus, from a tender age, we instill the love and respect for books. The Computer Lab allows children to become acquainted with computers and these interactive sessions are extremely popular with the students. We have a separate activity room equipped with a DVD player and Television and real life material for children where they are encouraged to explore their imagination and enhance their creativity along with this we have a music room with a piano and a keyboard where a professional music teacher who helps children learn new vocabulary in a fun way through rhymes in English and Urdu. We ensure that the children are cared for when they visit the toilets. Full time aayas are available to wash and change diapers or clothes of toddlers if required. Our in-house doctor provides a thorough check-up twice a year of each child.
Our prepared environment abounds with activities which are attractive and interesting to children and which give them clear messages on how to succeed. Teachers design work which builds eye-hand coordination, concentration, manual dexterity and self-reliance. Pre-reading and writing skills and basic math concepts are introduced in individual and group lessons at a pace which is developmentally appropriate for each child. Our goal is to nurture and encourage the preprimary child's natural love of learning. These kindergarten lessons are stimulating and fun. Because they are focused and structured for a group, they prepare the children for the format of an elementary program.
In each classroom a qualified teacher plans and directs the programme with the help of an experienced teaching assistant. This allows the teacher to work with small groups of children allowing for more individual attention.
Our philosophy is:
Critical and specific outcomes have been identified and included in our curriculum to ensure the holistic development of each child for that.
Learners are encouraged to:
The main purpose of language is to communicate, that is to let others know what we are thinking. We communicate mainly via spoken and written language. During the period, we initiate the students in tracing, recognizing and writing of English and Urdu alphabets, their sounds, syllables, three letter words and relate them to their pictures or real objects through employing different mediums such as sand paper letters, objects, vocabulary basket, flash cards, and the black board. The reading of Urdu and English is enhanced through movable alphabets, sight reading through flash cards, series of readers, library books, soft boards, mobiles and charts arranged in the classrooms.
We have an English conversation teacher who helps children through innovative reading and story sessions which promotes a holistic and integrated literacy based skills approach to academic success in young children.
She helps children to decode and segment sounds and words that take place as part of pre-reading and pre-writing skills. Show and Tell, and role playing fosters the development of Speaking and Listening skills which are the regular part of her sessions.
Concepts covered in number include; recognition and writing numbers, counting strategies, using one-to-one correspondence, basic partitioning and regrouping. Other mathematical concepts covered include; spatial awareness, basic shapes, categorizing simple patterns, identifying and grouping by simple attributes, comparing and basic introduction to understanding of numbers. We also teach them the correct formation of the numbers and familiarize our girls with concepts of quantities, sizes, shapes and their sides, fraction, addition and subtraction through varied fun filled and meaningful activities.
Society and Environment learning:
Children explore, question and wonder about the world they live in. They are encouraged to develop a sense of community, by learning about their environment. They begin to understand about the need to conserve, recycle, and care for the places, plants and animals that are near to them. Children learn that conservation relies on teamwork and that together we can all make a difference.
