Karachi Literature Festival:

On Saturday 16th February 2013 students of class V, IX, X and XI went on an educational trip to the 4th Karachi Literature Festival organized by Oxford University Press Pakistan at Beach Luxury Hotel.

Our students attended interviews, book signing sessions, panel discussions, creative writing workshops and mushaira all being held simultaneously at different venues. People young and old; junior students and senior students from different schools of Karachi thronged the festival.

Class V students attended The Children’s Literature Festival’ that was underway on another portion of the spacious hotel lawns. There were story telling sessions, puppet shows, drawing and painting sessions these kept the young ones busy. Our students attended the ‘Art of book making.’ Students wrote and illustrated their own manuscript and their copies were put on display. Some students attended puppet show while others attended the Book Fair.

It was an interesting trip as students got a chance to interact with students of different schools. They were fortunate to attend sessions conducted by renowned Pakistani and international authors, poets, journalists and film makers.

Teachers and students spent time browsing through books at the ‘Book Fair’ and some of them purchased good books. The event was very well organized and the epitome of literary values, but due to time constraints we were unable to benefit fully from this wonderful event.
