WWF Nature Carnival 2015:

Dawood Public School is a pioneer Green School and has joined hands with WWF to raise awareness amongst young people about protection of our environment in order to make our country greener and cleaner. Each year our students participate very enthusiastically in the WWF nature carnival. They work on the themes vigorously under the supervision of teachers and make innovative 3D working models. The consecutive wins in the previous years has raised their spirits and they worked passionately to bring more awards this year too.
Exclusive backdrops conceptualizing the themes of the projects were made by the students under the supervision of their teachers. The coordinators worked responsibly on the themes of the projects, they discussed it with their teachers and guided the students in preparing these projects. The teachers worked tirelessly to help the students prepare and present their projects in the best possible way. The response from the parents and those visiting the carnival was very positive. The students and teachers interacted well with the crowd, earning themselves and the entire school an over all 2nd prize in the Best Participating School category. The excitement after the winners were announced made all the efforts by the entire school, students and staff worthwhile. The entire activity was a combined effort of the CEO, the Principal, the in-charges, admin staff, coordinators, teachers and students.
Dawood Public School participated in the following categories this year:
Level 1 and 2                                              Make connection between species and Human (3rd Prize)
Level 3 and 4                                              Reduce Plastic save marine life (1st Prize)
Level 5 and 6                                              Recycle waste.Reduce impact.
Level 7and 8                                               Bringing eco changes on campus
Level 9 and 10                                            Eco Recycling of e- waste (2nd Prize)
Level 1 and 2: The project ‘Make connection between species and humans’ demonstrated the connection between human and species. This model depicted the inter dependence of both for survival. Human survival depends on natural resources such as plants, animals, insects water etc. the project depicted sustainable ways of preserving these resources and using them responsibly. Students created a farmland where animals and their uses were shown, factories channeling their waste into seas endangering marine life and how forests are helpful in bringing about rain, preventing floods producing timber and food for human beings. This project won a 3rd   prize.
Level 3 and 4: ‘reduce plastic and save marine life’ was an exciting and informative theme that lay emphasis on saving our endangered marine life. It dealt with the safety and effective measures that are been taken at different levels such as at individual level and at corporate sector for saving our beaches from the non-biodegradable trash that is littered by the people.
The 3D model depicted the importance of marine life and measures to conserve it highlighting the aspects that need to be adopted to save marine life. This project was prepared using recycled material it. Students made different plastic craft work and demonstrated new and innovative methods of recycling that can reduce plastic and save our marine life.
The backdrops depicted different non biodegradable trash and the time they take to decompose. This project won a 1st prize.
Level 5 and 6 The 3D model comparing a Tidy and an Untidy City was designed and made using recycled material. It showed how recycling and reusing waste material can reduce the impact of this on the environment. The model contained a waste wall, composting and water treatment
Level 7 and 8: Worked on the theme Bringing eco friendly changes on the campus and created a 3 D model of DPS. This was a challenging theme as bringing such changes in the campus required time, ideas and manpower. Our students worked on all aspects of creating an eco- friendly environment. They worked with their ideas and created wonderful green landscapes using recycled material, planting and conserving energy techniques, using three types of dumpsters to keep the environment clean and healthy, banned junk food, and promoted kitchen gardening, created a compost pit and made sprinklers using plastic bottles. This ecological change has brought spark and colour to the environment. The 3D model is a replica of the DPS environment. This was made using recycled bio degradable materials such as cartons, bamboo sticks saw dust etc.
Level 9-10
The theme Eco-recycling of e-waste was addressing one of the alarming global issues related to the dumping of electronic components and devices. The model was designed in a very innovative style. It highlighted the core problem and then fragmented the problem and found solutions to e-waste by intelligent reuse and responsible eco-recycling.  It was aimed to aware the target audience about hazardous and toxic metals used in electronic equipments and their impacts on humans and the environment and how the reuse and recycling of this e-waste can not only reduce environmental impacts it can be beneficial economically and reduce burden on resources. This model focused on achieving sustainable growth of electronics and technology. The model represented the sustainable development and usage of e-waste in the form of a cycle. It depicted the various processes which when combined from sustainable and environmental friendly e -waste management cycle. It depicted e waste management and benefits of recycling and reusing. The project was made using biodegradable waste material. This project won a 2rd prize.
