Inter School Sports Tournament (O and A Levels):

Friday 9th October to Friday 16th October 2015

Dawood Public School’s four day ‘Inter School Sports Tournament’ has generated immense gravity and has attracted thirty two leading schools of Karachi to the event.  The ‘Opening Ceremony’ was a remarkable event. The presence and inspirational address by Mr. Hussain Dawood, chairman Dawood Foundation was a source of encouragement for the students. Special children who proved themselves to be real Olympians, at the 2015 Special Olympics were invited to the event.   The Principal O level welcomed the guest teams and emphasized on the importance of sports in a student’s life. The ceremony commenced with the walk past led by the head girls of O and A levels carrying the school flag and the national flag ,  later the participating schools entered the ground led by the members of the DPS student’s council carrying the respective school’s placard. The crowd cheered the teams as they walked past. The official ceremony commenced with the recitation and translation of the verses of the Holy Quran, followed by the oath taking. The athletes pledged to stand up by the rules and regulations of the tournament. Four spectacular displays were put up by the pre primary, primary, O and A level sections respectively. The little pre primary students’ display and mastery of simple yoga exercises held the audience in awe.   The primary section’s display was a colorful overview of students at their best. The O level students presented a medley depicting women empowerment. The A level students’ amazing performance culminated in the formation of DPS proving their affinity to their institution.  The amazing display of flexibility, control of movements and balance by the professional gymnastic was a treat to watch. Amid standing ovation the Special Olympians received shields conferred by DPS in recognition of their achievement and inspirational performance. DPS a green school aims to raise awareness among the young generation about the importance of nature conservation and environmental changes that affect the planet. The documentary about Margalla Hills  by Dawood Foundation was screened for the audience It introduced the breath taking beauty of Margalla Hills, its wild life and the effects of climate change on its scenic beauty and the eco system.  It discussed the importance of nature and explained that nature reserves must be protected. The event wrapped up by a stunning show of fireworks that illuminated the sky with a spectrum of amazing colors. It was a spectacle to behold.
