DPS Independence Day Celebration:

The preparations to commemorate the ‘Independence Day’ began a week before the school’s reopening day. The theme and concept of the celebration was a parade from ‘Khyber to Karachi’. The school was decorated with national flag, buntings and balloons lending the environment a green aura. Parents were invited to witness and participate in the unique program. The street out side was lined with eye catching pan flex paintings depicting famous land marks from Khyber to Karachi, the Khyber Pass, Minar e Pakistan, Faisal Mosque and Quaid e Azam Mausoleum .The ‘DPS Independence Day Parade’ commenced from  the Khyber Pass  and proceeded on the journey of its homeland their last stop was Karachi. The parade was led by the Naval Band followed by a march past of class IX to A level students dressed in their crisp PE uniforms representing their houses; the class I students dressed in uniforms representing the cadets of Pakistan armed forces, walked past in batches  as defenders of the nation; the class II students represented Pakistani sportsmen . The Pride of Pakistan group represented celebrities who have served the nation in various fields. Three batches of students dressed in colorful attires presented the traditional dances Dandia, Khatak and Handkerchief dance. Two majestic buggies occupied by students representing the present generation of progressive Pakistanis trundled in front and two buggies at the back of the procession. The procession and the parents arrived at the DPS sports ground its last destination, the students, parents and teachers joined in the national anthem rendered by the DPS choir while simultaneously the national and the school flag was hoisted ; the little students of pre primary and primary confidently addressed the gathering and urged every one present to renew their pledge of commitment to Pakistan; the O level students placed their pledges and messages of love for their country on the ‘Wish Tree’ near the dais.  A never ending festive mood prevailed through out the entire program, national songs reverberated in the back ground; to add to the euphoria students and teachers sang and danced on the tunes of popular patriotic compositions. The supportive parents were in high spirits they cheered and applauded all the while. The highly anticipated event was a huge success due to the untiring efforts of the students, the faculty, the parents and the management
