23rd two day Children's Literature Festival (CLF):

DPS feels honoured for hosting the 23rd two day Children's Literature Festival (CLF) on 26th and 27th of February, 2016 in collaboration with Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI), Dawood Foundation, Oxford University Press, Olpers, Idara-e-Taleem-O-Aagahi (ITA), Open Society Foundations, Canadian High Commission and the Government of Sindh.
Mr. Pechuho Education Secretary Sindh, Ms. Beala Raza Jamil founder CLF, Ms. Amina Saiyid Managing director Oxford University Press and Co-Founder CLF, Ms Sabrina Dawood Director CLF and CEO Dawood Foundation, Ms Ruksana Khan Award winning author and story teller from Canada and Ms Quin Thong from Hong Kong, graced the CLF.  Students of government schools were also invited to the inaugural session.
The program commenced with the recitation of the verses of Holy Quran followed by the CLF Tarana ‘Hamay Kitab Chahye’ Ms Sabrina Dawood welcomed the audience and offered her support to causes that would provide educational experiences to children beyond the class room. Sixteen years old Zainab Tanveer Khan student of Dawood Public School, author of the book “A Bucket full of Awesome” read an excerpt from her book and received thunderous applause, she presented her book to Ms Sabrina and Ms Ruksana Khan.
Addressing the audience Ms Beala Raza, Ms Amina Saiyid and Ms Ruksana stressed on the importance of reading, creative expression and critical thinking.  Mr. Fazalullah Pechuho Education Secretary Sindh pledged his support to CLF.
Impressive performances by students of DPS and AMI school added colour to the event.
The two day program featured talks, interactive readings, discussions and workshops by well-known children's authors, poets and artists. The festival also included sessions on creative writing, bookmaking, poetry, comics, and digital stories, writing book reviews as well as book launches, book fair, theatre, cartoon, concert and much more.
The 5th Teachers Literature Festival (TLF) was held at the Dawood Public School Karachi on Sunday 28th February 2016, by Idara-e–Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) in collaboration with Oxford University Press (OUP), Dawood Public School and Karachi Youth Initiative (KYI).  TLF hopes to engage teachers in process of understanding literature and implementing the same in classroom 
Teachers from public and private schools in pursuit of learning different methods of effective teaching and implementing them in the classroom attended the session.
Teachers Literature Festival featured reading sessions, book launches, documentary screening, theatre, story telling sessions and discussions. Both the events managed to draw impressive crowds.
